National Credit Regulator

Regulatory scope

The National Credit Regulator (NCR) oversees the National Credit Act 34 of 2005 and regulates the South African consumer credit industry. NCR requirements apply according to the activity performed, including regulated credit provision, credit bureau operations and debt counselling.

Pathfinder's role

Pathfinder provides investigative software. Use of the software does not confer NCR registration, authorisation to operate a credit bureau, permission to obtain credit records or authority to provide regulated credit services. No Pathfinder NCR registration number or regulator approval has been verified for this notice.

Credit-related investigations

Before accessing or sharing credit information, establish the permitted purpose, applicable authority and relevant National Credit Act and POPIA requirements. Where a regulated activity requires registration, confirm the organisation's current registration directly with the NCR. Software controls do not replace these obligations.
