Privacy & POPIA

Applicable law

The Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) regulates the processing of personal information in South Africa where it applies. Pathfinder's privacy commitment is to lawful, purpose-limited and proportionate processing. This notice does not assert independent certification or verified full organisational compliance.

Access-request information

The access form collects your name, work email, organisation, professional role, primary jurisdiction and reason for access to assess the request. Requests are stored privately and are not available for anonymous browsing. Do not include suspect identifiers, evidence or other sensitive case material in this form.

Investigation responsibilities

The responsible party must establish a lawful processing basis and purpose, minimise collection, maintain information quality, apply appropriate security safeguards and set lawful retention periods. Special personal information, children's information and cross-border transfers need additional assessment. POPIA sections 19–22 address security safeguards and compromise notification; section 72 governs transfers outside South Africa.

Rights and complaints

Subject to statutory conditions and exemptions, individuals may request access, correction or deletion and object to certain processing. Complaints may be submitted to the Information Regulator. Pathfinder's designated Information Officer contact, organisation-specific retention schedule and request procedure are not published here; this notice is not a substitute for a complete operator-specific privacy policy or PAIA manual.
